Deus Ex - Introduction

Deus Ex
Developed By: ION Storm
Published By: Eidos Interactive
Released: 2000 (PC)
2002 (PS2)

Widely considered to be one of the greatest PC games of all time, Deus Ex blended a first person shooter with RPG and stealth elements to create what would become one of the most influential games of its era. The game's development was headed by Warren Spector, who was previously involved with System Shock and briefly with the game that would become Thief.

Much like System Shock, Deus Ex has a cyberpunk theme, taking place in the 2050s in a world riddled with disease and terrorism. You are JC Denton, an agent for UNATCO (United Nations' Anti-Terrorist Coalition). The entire world is plagued with the disease 'Grey Death', and while there is a cure, 'Ambrosia', developing and distributing it has proved to be a slow process. However, the NSF (National Secessionist Force) believe that secret organisations are holding back the cure. The game is heavy with conspiracies and it will take us on a little trip around the world, from New York to Hong Kong to Paris...along side a couple of extra little places that I won't spoil...

For my own experiences of the game, I've owned this game since 2004 and I did almost beat it once...but that was with cheats. I'll start up a game every year, get so far and then get distracted by something else, but not this time. This time I WILL finish it. If you're familiar with Deus Ex then come see just how bad I am. If you're not, well, you are in for a treat! And if you don't like Deus Ex?

What a shame.
